The Department of Science and Humanities forms the foundation of all Engineering disciplines. On the basis of general competency profile of professional, engineers working in different sectors of employment the world over, the courses of study offered in the B.Tech. 1st year, in particular, have been identified as common to all disciplines of Engineering and Technology.

This department is the backbone of the entire engineering education process and is efficiently supporting all the engineering departments by providing the highest quality of training in basic sciences. The department has a very strong background of providing students with the core technical competencies and a pro-active attitude which equips them well to get started with the subjects of their respective discipline from the second year onwards. The faculty members of the department are highly qualified, competent and humane, and deliver more than theoretical knowledge to students. They take up the additional responsibility of mentoring students who have barely crossed the threshold from a school to a Professional college. In other words, the department of Science and Humanities, besides providing a high class Academic Instruction to students also moulds them into reasonable and responsible beings capable of thinking rationally and working ethically.
